I believe that partnerships with major businesses, community leaders and organizations will be the one of the major keys to opening the lock on the door to Louisiana’s future!!
I’m meeting with as many people as I can, in person to discuss how they think City Government can play a roll in the success of their business/group. Successful Louisiana businesses and organizations are a WIN for Louisiana, right?

I met with Dr Tom Ward, Louisiana RII School District Superintendent. We discussed a wide array of topics including but not limited to; job opportunities for Louisiana teens, recreation and of course school safety. I look forward to expanded discussions on several of the topics! I definately want to continue discussions with Dr Ward about how we can prep young adults not going to college to enter the Louisiana and surrounding area workforce. We want to keep young people/families IN Louisiana and we want our businesses to grow. Most employers struggle to keep a workforce. It would be a win for all of us if we can be workforce ready!

I also met with Tylie Mills, Pike County Memorial Hospital Adminsitrator. She like other of our businesses find “marketing” the services offered by the hospital difficult. PCMH is a HUGE asset to Pike County and in particiular Louisiana. They are one of our largest employers of course and have so many services to offer I don’t think people realize! I think going forward no matter who leads the administration, the City of Louisiana and PCMH should be partners in bringing healthcare services to Louisiana. I’ll continue to share discussions in future posts. I’m so appreciative of the time these groups and individuals are giving me and promise to take everything I am learning to heart, implement what we can to move Louisiana forward.
